Houston Analysis

Houston had a great season 2 years ago under Tom Herman, but this year they fell short of expectations despite a big win vs Oklahoma in week 1. Tom Herman left this team in pretty good position. former Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen is certainly the favorite to take over for Greg Ward. the defense is in great position and lost only a handful of players. Ed Oliver had one of the best seasons in FBS and will return after his monster 22.5 TFL season in his true freshman season. Coach Major Applewhite is now the HC after being the OC. The offense only lost 3 players. this team is in prime position to make a push for an American Athletic Conference championship and potential NY6 Bowl. Defensively this is a team that is built to stop the run, and has weapons all over offense, Lindell Bonner returns after a phenomenal JR year. Houston returns their O-Line group from last year and will be very beneficial to the offense. A major concern is replacing their top 2 LBs and maintaining their success under Major Applewhite. The offense also was largely ineffective running the ball last season, so it will need to be more balanced and consistent. worst case scenario, i still see this team winning 8 games, but best case scenario i see them running the table winning all 12 of their games and making it back to a NY6 bowl.
