UConn Analysis

UConn in recent years has had issues putting points on the board, and this year was no exception. UConn finished 128 out of 128 in points scored per game, with that looming over them, they parted ways with HC Bob Diaco, and brought back long time HC Randy Edsall after a failed tenure at Maryland and spent 2016 away from football. UConn has some hope, because of dynamic dual threat QB Bryant Shirreffs and incoming JuCo QB David Pindell. UConn has also hired OC Rhett Lashlee, who was apart of Auburns big success the last 4 years. defensively, this team has always had great athletes, Sio Moore, Tyvon Branch, Bryon Jones, and most recently Obi Melifonwu. UConn has a long way to go to return to Fiesta bowl form. their class rated 100th out of 128 according to 247 sports. The biggest question mark for UConn is finding WR's. Noel Thomas accounted for almost half of the teams receiving yards and he is graduated. under Rhett Lashlee, expect a lot of zone read with 2 dynamic dual threat QB's on the roster and quality RB's on the team such as Akreel Newsome. Uconn hasn't lost a ton on defense, meaning they have a chance to return to the 19 PPG that led them to a bowl game in 2015. worst case scenario, UConn wins 2 games and best case scenario is that they win 5 games. This team can make strides, but won't be a contender for another year or so.
