Cincinnati Analysis

Cincinnati had one of their more disappointing seasons in recent memory as they finished 4-8 and finished 99th in total offense and 123rd in scoring offense, resulting in HC Tommy Tuberville resigning from the job at the end of the season. New HC Luke Fickel has experience as a HC, taking over for Ohio State when Jim Tressel resigned following a scandal at Ohio State. He will have to find an answer at QB. Cincinnati rotated QB's a lot before deciding on JR QB Hayden Moore. Moore has shown flashes with big passing performances vs Memphis in 2015 and Tulsa in the last week of the season, but has been wildly inconsistent. incoming former Ohio State QB Torrence Gibson will be behind Moore and surely push him for the starting job. Cincinnati failed to be explosive and it shows in their numbers last year. Defensively, the numbers weren't all too great, but was a strength of the team in 2016. graduating 5 players on defense will be an issue. Luke Fickell is a defensive minded coach and will put Cincinnati in good positions defensively, a big question will be how will the offense perform. Cincinnati hired Notre Dame OC Mike Denbrock, who coached Notre Dame to 418 yards per game, also noted for being a great recruiter. Finding an identify will be key for Cincinnati in year 1 under Luke Fickell. worst case scenario, they only win 5 games, best case scenario is 7 wins. the outlook shows that this is a very average unit that will win the games it's suppose to and lose the games it is suppose to.
